Week 9 - Day 7 ~ anyone have any drano i can borrow?

how am i feeling:

you know what...i must say i really never have a really bad day.  i mean im exhausted and barely....i mean barely can type this message cause i am ready for bed at 7:45 lol....but i don't feel bad.  however i have been still trying to get over this nasty cold / sinus infection yuck!  i hate the feeling of flem in the back of my throat....top 10 worst feelings.  i went to the obgyn to pee in a cup today again...seems this will be a forever practice for me to check my protein and bacteria levels....shrugs.  oh and my belly is still angry with me for not eating enough fiber...enough said.  maybe i should down some metamucil..snickers.

eating:

let me see today started with a yummy whole wheat english muffin with some butter and a glass of grapefruit juice.  for lunch a tuna sandwich...salad...and sun chips YuMmY!  i don't remember sun chips being so wonderful.  for dinner i snacked on a piece of chicken in a wrap with lettuce and rounded of the evening with a bit-o-ice cream.......ah

other:

recently i have been fascinated with old wives tales about how to tell the sex of your child.  some believe you can tell based on the rate of the heart beat of the child.  if your child's heartbeat is over 140 beats per minute you are having a girl.....however below a boy.  another group of people believe that it is based on your eating habits.  if you find yourself in the fridge pigging out all the time (once the morning sickness wears off....if you have it) then you are having a boy.  if you are indifferent about food a girl.   VERY VERY INTERESTING>>>>>> looks like a girl wins for me.....but wait if you carry your belly high in the second and third trimester they say a girl if low a boy....lol.
Here are some more from www.pregnancy-info.net

What Your Urine Says
This next test to determine a baby's sex may not be for everyone, although it is very simple. Just take a sample of your urine and mix it with Drano. Depending on the color change of your urine, you will have a boy or a girl. Unfortunately, there is no consensus on what color equals which sex. So, if you do decided to try this and your urine turns bluish yellow, brownish, brown, black or blue you will be having a boy. If your urine looks more greenish brown, green, blue or doesn't change at all, then you're having a girl. But be warned: if you decide to do this test, there could be some pretty harsh fumes produced - not to mention the possibility of an explosion!.
Craving Something…Sweet?
Many people believe that your cravings are caused by the sex of your baby. So, if you can't get enough chocolate, you could be having a girl. Does the idea of drinking straight lemon juice sound delicious to you? Then those sour cravings are a result of the little boy inside of you. However, if you go by the scientists, then some of them will claim that you're not even having cravings because cravings just don't exist.
Weight Gain
Thankfully, this one doesn't refer to your weight gain. The belief is that, if your husband puts on weight during your pregnancy, then you will be having a girl. If he doesn't put on a pound, then you're carrying a boy.
At-Home Tests
Here's a test that you can do next time you change or get out of the bath. Look in the mirror at your breasts. If the right one is larger, you're having a boy! A larger left breast indicates a girl (if they're the same size, does that mean you're having one of each?).
H old a pendant over your hand. If the necklace swings back and forth, you're having a boy. If it is more of a circular motion, then it's a girl. This can also be done by suspending a ring on a string above your belly.
Do you have acne? Some believe that getting acne during your pregnancy indicates you're carrying a girl. Maybe the acne is caused by twice the amount of female hormones?
Pick up a key. If you've picked it up by the thinner end, you're having a girl. Picking it up by the bottom, rounder part means a boy is on the way. Did you pick it up by the middle? Then congratulations! You're having twins!
· Ask yourself what you think you're having. In a study that asked women with no previous knowledge about their baby's sex, the moms-to-be correctly guessed the sex of their baby 71% of the time.
Other Pregnancy Beliefs
If you hold your arms above your head, your baby's umbilical cord will get wrapped around its head and choke it. This myth may have a spiritual basis or it may have been a way to keep women from doing anything when they were pregnant (perhaps the myth was created by an overworked mother?). However, if your baby gets caught up in its umbilical cord (which happens in about a 1/3 of births) it is because your baby was very fidgety inside of you and moved around a lot, not because of you.
· Similar to this is the belief in Hawaiian tradition that pregnant women should not wear leis. This folktale believed that wearing a lei would cause the umbilical cord to wrap around the baby's head and choke it. Nowadays, most people recognize that this folktale is a little over-the-top.
A pregnant woman should not take baths. This myth is routed in the belief that water can get into the vagina and thereby introduce bacteria to the baby. Scientists have proven that water does not enter a woman's vagina during a bath. In fact, baths will probably help pregnant women feel better by helping them relax.

Week 9 - Day 5 ~ Probiotics

weight:

wow the weeks fly by...today is already photo and weight day lol!
so alas staying strong at 133...shrugs and yes i know it will all catch up as i enter my second trimester.
i look forward to it....i can finally rest my cup on something while i type this blog...snickers.
today i also downloaded a whole bunch of belly photos which was really cool to see over time :)

how am i feeling:

i am getting over this yucky cold now it is just a cough and yucky flem in my throat...YUCK!  i hope it will all be over and done by tuesday :)  except for that i feel great :)  it seems like im not napping as much which will be perfect for work starting back up.  i must say my tummy has not been happy lately.  lots of gurgling and such noises....hummmm.  i think i may need to eat smaller meals more frequently.  it seems like ive been sitting at two meals a day with a few snacks in between.  i may need to change that.  the doctor said probiotics will assist with that too....so i looked into pills but decided to go with a fortified yogurt drink called kefir...see image...it does taste yummy :)
purchased at grocery store

eating:

hum well i started out the day with a glass of yogurt drink and some cereal.  i then attended a step arobics class for an hour and ended the session with 32 oz of water and a 16oz smoothie with banana, blueberries, and peanut butter. i may snack on some pretzels and head in for a short nap.  for dinner, we have some left over salad and turkey burgers yum!  need that protien :)

other:

gosh what fun things are there to share today.....well i did search around for some other blogs that may be similar in content to this one as a way to network.  here are the links to some i found...check them out!

Week 9 - Day 3 ~ ultrasound :)

how am i feeling:

today i just feel lethargic as the cold is taking a toll on me.  its one thing to be pregnant and sleepy but with a head cold and sore throat it makes it much worse!  however today i went to get an ultrasound which was super fun!!!  saw the baby moving, its heart beating, and got some super awesome photos.  it is so amazing to me that  you feel like there is nothing there but on the screen its like a little body....giggles...wiggling inside you.  surreal really :)

eating:

lets see...eating has been just odd with the lack of cooking and refrigeration lol.  if it wasn't for that i would have made some yum warm soup for my sickness.  this morning i started my day with a sesame bagel with cream cheese and oj.  lunch was a chicken salad wrap and some chips and water.  dinner...well....piecemeal.  i had a chicken cutlet and a few bites of watermelon.  i feel super full so i may wait to eat something more later if im hungry.  im worried if i lay down for a nap i will be out for the night.  alan and i were going to try for a movie but between him and i snoozing on the couch it may be inevitable that we just sleep...smirks.  though i am looking forward to a shower.

other:

alan and i were discussing today if we wanted to find out the sex of the baby....we know it is a couple month away but we ultimately decided we would like to know.  thought the child would be dressed in black and white regardless of sex.  i decided to do some searching of potential outfits that i would enjoy for my child.  thought the peanut gallery would appreciate some photos of things i enjoy....

Week 9 - Day 1 ~ belly curiosity

how do i feel:

so alas i have a cold....yuck.  i have a stuffy, runny nose and a soar throat (well at least the right side is soar?).  i have gargled with some warm salt water and hope that i will sleep tonight.  lately i have been having such strange vivid dreams and i have been waking up every 2 hours or so from them only to return to sleep to have more strange dreams.  honestly i haven't had dreams like this since i tried to quit smoking when i was in college and wore patches to bed....yes it is a side effect.  oh and i quite smoking five years ago without the patch :)  how odd that when i googled it apparently vivid dreams are a side effect of pregnancy...lol go figure.  i really should sleep with a pad and paper next to my bed.....looks around....too lazy to get up maybe tomorrow...smirks.

eating:

lets see today i started my day off with oj and an old fav multigrain bagel with cream cheese.  i had a chix salad wrap for lunch with some chips ( a really late lunch like around 4) and finished off the night with some watermelon.  couldn't really find it in me  to eat anything else.  note to self need more veggies!

other:

as i looked down at my belly today i was thinking....hum.... what is going to happen with my belly ring.  i have had it since i was a teenager and don't really want to part with it.  after reading some stories it appears that there are some options.  first off you may not need to take it out to begin with.  some women state that leaving it in increases stretch marks around it....others have circular rings with more give.  mine is a bar bell and a pretty tight one at that.  still holding....but i don't think it will last the whole pregnancy. after some research it appears i will have to buy a "pregnancy" belly ring...giggles.  however some do believe if you have had it for as long as i have it will just stay...shrugs.....maybe i will buy a ring in case. however they are a bit scary looking.....really....and of course there are too many choices.  i looked into this site maternity piercing ...and here are some i found (retention may be the way to go for me....unless i find something in well black with skulls....lol):

the fancy belly (way too fancy)

the indicator belly ( i think this is a little too much for me)

the xtra long belly (hummm this looks like something i could floss with lol)

and the retention belly (probably the best for me)

Week 8 - Day 6 ~ First Appointment

weight:

so it is already that time of the week....wow times flies.  so oddly enough i have lost two pounds....shrugs.....sitting at 133.  maybe it is my adversity to food lately.  idk.  we also took our weekly photos which i have to download into my album...it will be interesting to see them in the end :)

how am i feeling:

today i've just felt tired....nothing new lol.  the rainy cold weather did make me a bit grumpy...alas i stayed in watching an old movie and cuddling with my alan for a mid afternoon nap.  we did go to our first doctors appt this morning which was fun.  met the nurse practitioner, filled out a bunch of forms,  gave a urine sample, and had an exam including some cervical test that i am unsure of..some sort of screen.  she is sending me for an ultrasound sometime within the next couple weeks to take a look at a uterine fibroid i have sharing space with the baby and the baby also....snickers.  she also gave me a bunch of handouts about optional screening tests.  i think my next appointment will be in a month and they will take blood and do another exam.

eating:

gosh i have not been into eating lately...i had a small bowl of whole grain cereal for breakfast and for a later breakfast i shared a pump bagel with alan with some egg, cheese, and bacon and an orange juice--> funny how i never liked orange juice before and now i crave it lol.  lunch...if you could call it that consisted of a 1/2 a slice of left over pizza.  and dinner well last minute got a salad and eggplant parm to split with alan and water.  i have been super thirsty lately and need to make sure i get enough water.  a small headache today indicates that i may be dehydrated!

other:

well i guess this is as good of place as any to talk about my wavering decision to get a FirstScreen test or not (any suggestions would be greatly helpful).  for those of you who are unsure what i am referring to...this would be the screening test that can detect your increased risk of having a baby with Down syndrome  or trisomy 18.  by taking a blood sample where they analyze the PAPP-A and hCG proteins and an ultrasound where they measure the nuchal translucency of the fluid behind the back of the fetuses neck they can determine whether you screen negative or positive.  if positive your baby is at higher risk and doctors suggest amniocentesis. now this is a screen test typically down for mothers over the age of 35 however now they offer it to everyone.   the thing is you could come out positive and go through the amniocentesis (which is painful and puts you at risk for miscarriage) all for not.  shrugs.  is it better to know or not to know?  what if you do know?  what would that change?  this screening has to be done between the 10-14th week so i have to decide soon.  hum....any supportive feedback with your experiences would be helpful :)

8/21/10

Week 8 - Day 4 ~ mac & cheese...really?

how do i feel:

here we are another day in baby world....today all good.  tried to take my nap but some banging (of a hammer) and laughing of my family members would not allow it.  alas i will probably sleep well tonight.  today i only really had some cramps in the afternoon probably due to a yummy scrumdididumptious hot chocolate.  i should probably stay away from such yummy things.  except for that the yawning has taken over my body.  my poor alan can't even watch me for it will make him sleepy snickers.  things that sometimes help me are walks, some kind of activity, drinking water, but really over all the sleepiness is winning.  after reading various others opinions about their experiences with "the yawn" i have come to the conclusion that i have to suck it up.  thankfully alan is supportive and most always gets me to take a nap during the day...which i need.  once work gets up and running it will be interesting and make for a long day.

eating:

lets see...i started my day out with some orange juice and a half of bagel with cream cheese and another with scrambled egg, cheese, and bacon.  thanks to alan i got to have the best of both.....both pumpernickel of course.  so yummy!  lunch really didn't happen today...shrugs...i don't know where the time went but the next thing i knew it was dinner....lol!  ate with the fam (family) some pasta, salad, garlic bread, and pork.  tasty in my mouth....i love homemade sauce..such a treat.  my belly is really happy with the food today...except for the hot chocolate which i guess i could call lunch lol.  note to self no more hot chocolate smirks.  i do need to drink some more water now that i think of it.  i find it hard to remember when i don't have a gym day.  oh and the fridge is MIA again today.  we took all the stuff we could salvage out and unplugged it again.  we will see how it is in the morning!

other:

okay lets see lets talk diapers.  i have spoke with some people about their beliefs about diapers or what they did for diapering their child.  i know alan has indicated he would "prefer" disposable and honestly i don't know how committed i can be to cloth.  i just may not have it in me.....good in theory...good for the environment...but a big pain in the bottom.  i decided to do some research to accompany my current knowledge base.  it seems based on some recent studies that the environmental impact of disposable and reusable diapers is quiet similar.  however pro reusable users insist that if you launder them in a certain way you can decrease the impact.  how one does that i do not know.  with some more research i came to found that in the UK mothers refer to diapers as nappies and they believe that you can save the environment as long as you wash the nappies ( i think i will adopt the term nappies :) in 60 degree water or cooler based on some research. big shrugs....who really knows.  maybe i will buy a couple and try it out...however be warned they can cost up to $20 a piece WOW and let me tell you there are various kinds with many catchy names such as...

  • BumGenius 3.0
  • Dream-Eze
  • SposoEasy
  • FuzziBunz
  • GroVia
  • Happy Heinys
  • Knickernapples
  • Thirsties Duo
  • Pocket Change
  • plus....you can get them in such colors as buttercream, blueberry, cotton candy, crushed berries, kumquat, mac n cheese (yuck), tootie frootie, blue daisy, big sky, amongst many more----too many decisions lol
( you can check out most of these at natures nappies :)

Week 8 - Day 3 ~ Holy Nipples Batman

how am i feeling:

today has been a super day so far. when i got up at 5 am to head out to an hour spin class i happened to look down at my chest which was soar from the sleep the night before.....and holy nipples i mean really they are huge....well huge for me im sure they wouldn't win any contests or be featured in the guinness book of world records lol.  actually they don't have such a category ( i googled it) but if you are interested in the man with the longest ear hair check out this link-----> longest ear hair.    i was tired after the class but it was well worth it.  when i returned i showered and crashed for another hour of zzz's prior to waking for the day.  i went in to work for a few hours to get some stuff organized and helped a girlfriend out.  it was nice to see some old faces and share about the summers adventures.

eating:

so far i have had a good eating day.  i started out with some yummy grapes before the gym and a smoothie with banana, blueberries, and peanut butter after.  so far 6 cups of water....i need to remember to drink some milk and grapefruit juice later.  for lunch i split a yummy salad with ceaser dressing, a bagel, and some egg salad (which really made my tummy happy).  for dinner tonight the plan is probably a repeat from the evening before....tuna salad sandwich with a few chips and carrots.  i felt like i could eat a whole pound of tuna last night.....it just hit the spot!

other:

so my alan and i did some pretty serious research on the topic of circumcision last night.  i was really interested to learn some of the history of the practice in the us and other countries.  we also read various statistics and pros and cons....now of course you have to read everything on the internet with a critical eye!  based on our conversations we decided against it if we have a boy....why well for a variety of reasons that you can interpret from the articles we read (check them out below - just remember some are bias) and our personal belief system that if you are born with it its meant to be there.  it was really disturbing to read more about genital mutation in little girls and the debates about those procedures.  why is it that we feel the need to modify our babies to fit an image?  shrugs...interesting that the united states has the highest rate of circumcisions in the world (about 60%).....makes you wonder!

8/17/10

Week 8 - Day 1 ~ note to self: take naps and question everything

how do i feel:

gosh am i grumpy when i do not take a nap...yuck!  it is utterly amazing to me the amount of time my body wants to sleep.  i don't know if going to the gym makes it worse or better?  but last night i did not sleep well (toss and turn...up and down) and then today i had a bunch of commitments that cut into my nap time :(  as the yawn continued to take over me my body also shut down and got quiet lazy...even too lazy to eat. i did muster enough energy to go to a step and sculpt class which i throughly enjoyed.  little more nausea today then usual and an aversion to food...oh well could be worse things i guess.  i have a girlfriend date tomorrow and i must remember to take a nap when i return!

eating:

today i really did not feel like eating anything....i did go with some standby favorites...cereal with milk for breakfast....whole wheat bagel with cream cheese for lunch....and dinner well finally at 9 o'clock i made myself eat some crackers, carrots, hummus, and cheese....sort of picked at it.  that was all!  not enough that is for sure and even now as i look at the cabinet i think nope just not hungry....i will have to work on that.  they do say that after the first trimester you get your eating urges back.  i am taking the multivitamin....and drinking water, milk, and grapefruit juice so that is good!  maybe tomorrow will be a better eating day!

other:

interesting stuff today....i got in a very interesting discussion about religion and children...which begs the question how to your belief systems align with your "alan".  well while doing some research i did note that there are some big questions that couples may want to discuss as they await the arrival of their new little one....i mean really some you just wouldn't think of till the moment presents itself...for instance do i care if my child wears all cotton clothing or synthetics....never thought about it?  then you wonder is this something i should think about?  lmao....if you know me which many out there do i like to question and over analyze everything.  i found a great article on Pregnancy Today called From naming your baby to religion.  it provides the reader with some basic questions you and your significant other should potentially discuss.  i breezed through to see which we had already addressed just in 8 weeks and honestly most have been.  i will include some below so you don't have to take a journey through the link :)  really they are all great questions...enjoy now it is my nap time smirks.

Pregnancy Points
  • Do you want to know the sex of your child?
  • How do you feel about amniocentesis?
  • Do you both want to participate in the pregnancy – exercising, going to birthing classes, being present at delivery?
  • How much time can each of you take off after your child is born?
  • Which (if any) family and friends will help out with your new child?
  • Whose last name will your child have?
  • Which religion (if any) will your child be brought up in?
Baby-based Debates
  • Who will wake up at night to change a diaper or comfort a crying baby?
  • Do you think cloth diapers are important or are disposables OK?
  • Will your child wear all-cotton fabrics or are synthetics fine?
  • Do your friends have children? Will you need to find a new group of folks to interact with (at least to find other children for your kids to play with)?
  • How do you feel about circumcision?
  • How about medical help – traditional or alternative and in what situations?
  • How do you feel about vaccines?
  • What do you want to feed your child? Do you think breastfeeding is important, or are you OK with formula? Will you want to make your own baby food or buy it?
Child-rearing Choices
  • Will one of you need to give up or put a career on hold while your kids are young?
  • Will you want to hire extra help with childcare?
  • Who's cleaning house, making breakfast and handling social obligations?
  • How much time does each of you need alone or for your work?
  • Are you willing to change your life around for your child in case of a special condition or illness?
  • Who will change their schedule around when your child gets sick and needs one of you to stay at home?
  • How do you feel about discipline and boundaries? Are you a pushover or very strict?
  • Do you want your child educated in public schools or private?
  • How do you feel about television for your child?
  • Are you willing to let kids express feelings? Do you expect them to "snap out of it quickly" or are you into distracting them away from their feelings?

Week 7 - Day 5 ~ Smoothies make it all better

weight:

so alas all that waiting and i weigh the same...holding at 135 :)
we also took pictures today which is always fun....however i believe my boobs are just going to grow forever...i read on a mother to be blog someone referred to them as her porn star boobs lmao!  i think from now on i will also refer to them as that....hope alan will enjoy it!  winks*

how do i feel:

today all is good!  i did wake up last night with  a headache....gosh and the yawning will it ever cease?  i mean really all i do all day is yawn....last night i slept from 11-730 and then i woke up ate and went to an hour step and sculpt class after which i baked some cookies and crawled in bed with my alan and slept another 4 hours lol waking up at dinner time.  i mean really im like a baby sleeping...eating...and well you know (which i should be lucky i am also doing consistently)!  needless to say, it is now 12am and i am exhausted and ready to sleep...go figure!

eating:

hum lets see today i started out with a few fresh strawberries, a couple spoons of yogurt and a small bowl of heritage cereal yummy, lunch consisted of a smoothie (really they are the best) with blueberries, bananas, and peanut butter - for that kick of protein.  what is it about smoothies that just makes you want to hum zippity do da.....im serious they are so scrumptious and honestly the best way to eat for me during this first trimester...i cannot get enough.  for dinner i had some miso soup, a little brown rice, and a few avocado sushi rolls :) it wasn't spicy tuna but alas pregnant woman and raw fish BIG no no!  so sad....i could really go for some tuna...anywho rounded off the day with a perfect cookie and a big glass of soy milk.   who could ask for anything more!

other:

i was trying to find a good way to use this section..fun facts but hard to make meaningful each day smirks....hey btw isn't it funny how when you become pregnant you are hypersensitive to baby products.   its like i walk through life with a different lens on...you know people in strollers walk by and i check it out like a potential mate or new car lol.  i mean strollers are quite amazing and can cost you from 200 to 1000 dollars.  lets hope you can reuse them.  for instance, i was on this site baby earth and they have a slew of various kinds with different subgroups....utterly amazing.  lightweight, single, double, travel, jogging, sports...then you have so many options and additions...you may want a joovy dry & snug rain cover....or possibly a click and go insulated cup holder...snickers.  gosh how does anyone ever make a decision.  in my effort to find the cheapest and most expensive strollers on this particular site this is what I came up with....

  • for 47.95 you can get a Tour Sport Umbrella Stroller with Canopy (not so bad for pack and go)

  • or for 1,259.99 you can get a Stokke Xplory Complete (wow i guess its ment to be a two in one with the carry cot...its big push is it grows with the child and all assessories included - i hope i can fit in it so alan can push me around until the baby comes...lol)

8/14/10

Week 7 - Day 4 ~ Time Flies

how am i feeling:

gosh the past three days just flew by!  my other half (i think i will refer to him from now on as alan)...anywho my alan was off so i was consumed with errands such as groceries, laundry, bread making, boating adventures, dinners etc.  amazingly i have felt pretty good the past couple days.  the only thing that has really be hard is being tired all the time.  and i do mean all the time.  i've been taking naps typically around 1 pm...for about two hours...that helps :)  right now my belly feels a bit funky but i took two tums and hope it will go away.  maybe i didn't drink enough water today?  i also have that metallic taste in my mouth again....how strange that is?  i am completely fascinated by the senses ability to enhance like this between this taste and the smells.....just so interesting.  tomorrow is weighing and picture day whoo hooo!  according to my book i should gain between 2-6 pounds in the first trimester.  we will see...

eating:

so gosh some time has passed....eating has been quite difficult these past couple of days.  the fridge decided to take a vacation and we lost most of the groceries for a couple of days which provided many days and nights of eating out.  some highlights....pizza (including garlic sticks...yum), eggs...turkey bacon...pumpernickel toast (homemade yummy)...and buckwheat pancakes, chili and salad, and of course the fav bagels.  i had a sesame  bagel with cream cheese today for lunch yum, some homemade banana bread for breakfast, and some corn, shrimp, salad and potato salad for dinner.  as a snack one blueberry ice pop and salty nuts ;)  lucky for us the fridge was fixed temporarily as of today so i can go back to eating at home....that is fun  bought some yogurt...which i am missing :)

other:

interesting facts about this week...did you know that the monster (joke) growing in my tummy is 10,000 times bigger then at conception!  and also its mouth and tongue are forming as we speak....giggles.  more to come tomorrow...i need to lay my head down as i am so exhausted....my nap was cut short today by dinner plans :)  goodnight

8/11/10

Week 7 - Day 1 ~ Did someone say bagels?

how am i feeling:

let me see today i feel pretty good...this is the first time in a while that i didn't take a nap.   so right now i am really really tired (holding my eyes open as i type).  i am planning on heading to the shower and getting to bed since i have an early day tomorrow with meetings at work.  today was my first day of meetings and actually i felt great all day!  i was anticipating feeling sleepy but alas nothing.  if anything it was really helpful for me to engage in professional conversation with a group of coworkers...who knew.  however my belly is bloated and grumbling with what i am sure is indigestion / gas....or something of that nature.  the belly never ceases to amaze.

eating:

well as noted in the title today i was craving bagels....yum.  i started my day with a pumpernickel bagel with cream cheese which was scrumptious and continued with lunch having a small salad and yes friends another bagel....this time whole wheat with nothing just some salad dressing which i occasionally dipped it in.  i couldn't believe i ate both lol.....when i told my other half he snickered at me...giggles.  in addition, i also had a green naked juice.  this i hope will make up for my lack in green veggies over the past couple days :)  i rounded off the day with a few pieces of watermelon and a half of bean burrito with my other half.  that was super yummy!  i stayed away from the hot sauce though i love it so.....learned that lesson last week :)

other:

hum....let me see i started engaging in chat boards with other mom's due the same month as me....march that is :)  that has proved really fun and helpful.  a great resource to make connections with how your feeling and get great advice.  plus there are contests which is super fun....mostly i stay on the bump website (if you look to the right there is a link).  i also started rubbing cocoa butter on my belly and boobs lol why not :)  some say its genetic.....others swear it can help with stretching.  me....well....i just want to prepare my nipples so they don't get raw and crack in the future.  i figure this is precautionary!  i just went with general old palmer's cocoa butter....considered organic but defaulted.  i mean really its not like someone is eating it off my nippled lmao....though on never knows i guess.  im getting goofy i need to sleep.  ill catch you all tomorrow :)

8/10/10

The Belly - Revisited Week 5

i just adore this photo....a big thank you to a close friend *wink

Week 6 - Day 6 ~ Dinner Aftermath

weight:

really weighing yourself everyday makes no sense at all....maybe I will stick with weekly as it appears I have lost weight?  doesn't help that i have a scale that breaks down your weight into points either...smirks

how am i feeling:

my belly is not happy today :( must be aftermath from the yummy, filling, chinese food my dad got me last night...yum....friend tofu....chicken fingers....fried rice....boneless spareribs.  not to mention i haven't eaten meat in a long while (im sure that didn't help).  i am paying for it with bloating, indigestion, and slight nausea.  oh well break out the tums and call it a calcium boost.  i did muster up the energy to head out to the gym for a 15 min climb on the step machine and an hour step class.  i keep reading to make sure i can do all this exercise and everything says go for it as does my doctor....so why not!

eating:

this morning i made some scrumptious smoothies with blueberries, banana, pineapple, yogurt and soy milk...a fantastic breakfast.  my tummy is growling now craving some toast...maybe grilled cheese yummy yum yum.  one can't say i am lacking in calcium.  as for things i am attempting to be conscious of....

  • drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day
  • drinking at least 2 cups of milk a day
  • drinking at least 1 cup of grapefruit juice a day

Week 6 - Day 5 ~ The beginning of the belly

Okay well lets start with some basics...

weight:

135 (started at 131ish about 7 weeks ago)
date of first day of last period June 23
(this will be the date doctors will refer to forever for the 40 week cycle)

how am i feeling:

well today i did not want to wake up...last night i took some tylenol for a nagging headache that would not leave me!  I forced my self to get up and head out to the gym where i attended a step and pump class for an hour.  really i feel great except that i feel tired... almost as if im living in a daze of some sort...or a dream.  as i look down at my belly i see a bit of bloating but nothing to drastic...and my breasts well...lets just say they are larger and tender.  my nipples are also enlarging and changing colors.

eating:

i have been craving starchy foods as they seem to make my belly happy and making the belly happy is most important.  i had some vanilla and chocolate ice cream last night with colored sprinkles...that made me super happy.  this morning i had some cereal with milk, a glass of grapefruit juice, and a few pretzels.  im looking forward to eating some cheese and crackers soon...yum.  other things ive been craving: pumpernickel bagels with cream cheese, grilled cheese with ketchup, cheese in general, and pb&j.

other:

i started reading what to expect when your expecting the other day as a recommendation from my girlfriend who is five months pregnant....i am enjoying it.  the nutritional section has proved to be helpful.  its really easy to find information about how your feeling, or what to do with a belly ring, if you have a headache, or other ailments.

....more to come so keep reading and also posting if you have anything to add or that will assist :)
